Transfer of Excess Judiciary Personal Property to Federal, State or Local Governmental Entities

The Judiciary Excess Disposal System (JEDS) is utilized to report excess personal property which is available for transfer to Federal, State and Local Governmental Entities. Item availability is determined by internal Judiciary policy which dictates the following disposal cycle:

Judiciary Disposal Cycle
1. Redistribution to Judiciary = first 14 days
2. Transfer to other Federal Agencies = following 21 days
3. Donate to State and Local Agencies = remaining 14 days

Federal Public Defender(FPD) Disposal Cycle
1. Redistribution to FPD = first 14 days
2. Transfer to the Judiciary and other Federal Agencies = following 21 days
3. Donate to State and Local Agencies = remaining 14 days

Who can report and transfer excess personal property:
1. Any Court Unit within the Judiciary
2. Federal Public Defender(FPD)

Who can search, request, and obtain excess personal property:
1. Any Court Unit within the Judiciary
2. Federal Public Defender(FPD)
3. Federal, State, and Local Governmental Entities
